Maggie’s Journey
Maggie’s intriguing and multifaceted journey began with her birth in the captivating and picturesque landscapes of Scotland, where she was nurtured and raised as a master storyteller, equipped with the courage and tenacity to face the unknown. This foundational experience led her to explore the profound and transformative teachings of Eastern philosophy. Driven by her insatiable curiosity, she embraced a diverse array of roles throughout her life, including that of a spirited Harley-Davidson racer, an accomplished culinary chef, a creative interior designer, and a contemplative nun-monk.
Her dedicated practice involved sitting with and learning from esteemed masters such as Eckhart Tolle, the celebrated author of "The Power of Now," Mooji, the beloved Guru at Sahaja Ashram, and Monk Bhasakorn, her revered Master Karma Teacher. These experiences guided her on an extensive world pilgrimage, which laid a strong foundation for her evolving skills as a teacher, author, and storyteller. In addition to these pursuits, she co-owned two wellness retreat centers, one located in the bustling city of Chicago, Illinois, USA, and the other nestled in the serene surroundings of Kelowna, BC, Canada.
Maggie’s earlier years were notably influenced by her father, who was a racer himself. She then became a trained chef at the prestigious French Culinary School in Vancouver, Canada, known as Perrier Dubrulle, which inspired her to open a catering company named Al-A-Cart. Her passion for wisdom led her to Seneca College in Toronto, where she honed her artistic abilities in interior design, eventually co-owning a successful renovation company based in Chicago. Completing her quest for insights, she spent four transformative years as a nun-monk at a renowned Jungle Temple located in Northern Thailand.
Music Lifetime
Maggie could not imagine living without music in her life. Every Saturday night, her family would enthusiastically pull out all their various instruments and come together to embody the spirit of a lively music jam session. She knows all too well how music possesses the magical ability to transform any lingering sadness into pure joy and exhilaration. Every offering she shares is infused with the healing essence of music. In 2019, Maggie's journey led her to cross paths with Doug. Both individuals were well aware that the mesmerizing sounds of Doug's African Kora, combined with the soothing and resonant vibrations of Maggie’s Tibetan Bowls, would create a complementary connection that beautifully captured the essence of achieving body and mind equilibrium. By 2024, both musicians realized that the remarkable synergy between their instruments, along with the strength of their artistic bond, would inspire and harmonize many souls. This collaborative partnership birthed the unique Ancient Sound Bath, designed specifically to balance the Chakra system while the Music of the Plants reinforces our deep connection with nature and the concept of oneness.
Doug’s Journey
Doug Galbraith, hailing from the vibrant landscapes of Canada, began his remarkable musical journey at a very young age, nurturing his passion for music early on in life. Demonstrating a natural inclination for rhythm and melody, he taught himself to skillfully play both the guitar and drums, eventually forming various bands that performed in a wide range of venues. The enchanting sound of the Kora, a traditional West African instrument, piqued his interest and curiosity, leading him to Senegal, where he wholeheartedly dedicated himself to learning how to master the Kora. During his extensive travels through the world of music, Doug immersed himself in the rich and diverse musical traditions alongside talented West African musicians. He returned to Senegal, determined to reignite his passion for the Kora, which enabled him to become truly proficient in the traditional repertoire. In 1994, his talents were recognized when Doug was nominated for Canada’s highest music award, the prestigious Juno Award. He then shared his extraordinary talents through extensive tours across both Europe and Canada, captivating audiences wherever he performed. Doug’s personal lifetime commitment to living by and leading the peaceful Taoist principles and way has greatly influenced his artistic expression. This unique blend of experiences and philosophies ultimately led him to collaborate with Maggie Calder, embracing all that she offers to enrich his musical journey even further.
